MotivePower in Boise has received a $95 million order for commuter locomotives from the Maryland Transit Administration. MotivePower is a subsidiary of Wilmerding, Penn.-based Wabtec Corp.
Canada’s Alberta Research Council is collaborating with the Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls to research energy options, providing scientific and engineering information to guide industry and policy-makers on energy technology alternatives in Alberta.
And last, Boise resident Woody Sobey, state coordinator for Invent Idaho and education director for the Discovery Center of Idaho, and his father, Ed Sobey, have gleaned notation in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Both Sobeys are big into finding out why things work the way they do. Ed wrote a book on programs for developing exhibits for schools and museums. Woody runs the Discovery Center Of Idaho on West Myrtle Street.
