U.S. states appear to be doing a better job of encouraging entrepreneurial activity than Canadian provinces according to research released Monday by independent research organization the Fraser Institute. The study named Idaho first among the top six states encouraging entrepreneurship. The other states included: Vermont, California, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Minnesota. The study went on to say that these six stated generated more than five times the number of patents, relative to population, than Alberta, the highest ranked Canadian province at 42nd.
