A City of Boise planning and zoning meeting attracted about 60 community members concerned about one project. The hot topic? The commission was considering approval of the 333-acre, 154-house Aase’s Canyon development in the Boise foothills.
After hours of talk on Monday, the commission decided to defer the issue to a work session scheduled for July 31 (location and time TBA).
The public can attend the session but won’t be able to comment. The idea, said Boise planning spokesman Jerry Todd, is for staff to clarify details about the project, which planning staff recommended the commission approve with conditions. Staff will be further exploring neighborhood concerns, which include issues with the project’s impact on the environment, its visual impact on the ridgeline and the traffic it will bring to roads unprepared to accommodate the growth.
