Tonight, Skyline I Development, Inc., will make its first appearance in front of Ada County planning and zoning to propose a 6,700-home planned community on 2,291 acres about 2.5 miles south of the Boise airport. Planning and zoning staff has recommended the commission approve the development, called Arbor Hills.

Developers plan to build homes in varying densities, from less than one unit per acre to 25 units per acre, over 19 years.  The community will contain 167.5 acres of parks and trails and 230 acres of natural open space, along with up to 400,000 square feet of commercial and up to 1.2 million square feet of light industrial space.

Ada County spokesman Rich Wright said to expect the application to go through two to four public hearings before planning and zoning makes a recommendation to the county commissioners.

Also on tonight’s agenda is a preliminary plat for the Rio Vista subdivision in the Vista planned community, off Kuna-Mora Road near South Cole Road. The subdivision will bring 3,110 residential units to the 1,050-acre development. It will include 250 acres of open space.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Ada County Courthouse first floor public hearing room.

  1. I don't see why any developer would consider going forward with a project like this one given the present condition of the real estate market and the fact that no new major employers have announced plans to move here, but what the heck.
